My Pink Designer Day ~ March 2012

Welcome to this month's edition of My Pink Stamper's Design Team Day!  Our theme for this month:
Spring is in the AIR!!!! Let's welcome Spring with the colors YELLOW, GREEN & BLUE. You may use other colors but must have Yellow, Green and Blue somewhere in the project. You must also have some type of Butterfly in your project.

For my project, I created a  charm necklace packaged in a mini purse:

Materials Used:
  • Imagine cartridge Lori's Garden
  • Cricut cartridge Girl's Makeup Party
  • My Pink Stamper's Pinka-licious stamp set
  • Shrinky Dink material
  • Jewelry fundamentals (jump rings in assorted sizes)
  • Misc. beads
  • BazzillBasicsPaper self-adhesive jewels in artesan pool
  • Ranger Distress Ink in crushed olive
  • American Crafts heavy weight cardstock in white
Steps to create the purse:

Flood fill the purse from Cricut cartridge Girl's Makeup Party with pattern from Imagine cartridge Lori's Garden.

Score the purse folds as shown.

Punch two holes on the top score lines.

String necklace through the holes (you can also use ribbon)

Add embellishments and sentiment from My Pink Stamper's "Pinka-licious" stamp set.

And here is a closer view of the charm I created using the Imagine cartridge Lori's Garden and shrinky dink material.  I used the tutorial provided by the talented Nadia at With Glittering Eyes to create my charms and then just added beads as desired.
Thank you for joining me today.  I hope you are inspired to try something new.

Make your Own Action Wobblers!

I was checking out my latest purchase - the Cricut Imagine cartridge Greetings Cards Inside & Out, and decided to make the "chesty male" for a few reasons:
- it's an image like no other
- the colors match this week's Creative Color Challenge
- my sister's birthday is coming up!

I also decided that the card would be so cute attached to an action wobbler - the embellishment that allows your image to have "movement".   Well, I haven't bought any yet because they are a bit pricey and I didn't feel I "needed" them...until today.   I have heard of some crafters making them out of springs, so I got my crafty supplies to create my own springs.    I had crafting wire in a few colors, so I decided to use it as a substitute for the springs.  I also just used plain cardstock for the bases although I believe the originals use craft foam?  I am not sure, but the cardstock worked fine.

Sorry, but the video is unedited and the little one got tired of mom crafting during the last few seconds.  =).

My Pinkalicious Blog Hop ~ March 2012

I am so glad you could join us for this evening's My Pinkalicious Blog Hop!   You should have arrived from Tx Scrapper Mom's blog.  If you are just joining us, you can start at the beginning at Robyn's (My Pink Stamper) blog,

  • Theme for Project: St. Patrick's Day! Think Green! Show us a card, layout, mini book, party idea, home decor--anything!

  • For my project, I created a St. Patrick's Day kissing ball...better to be kissed then pinched, right?

    Material Used:
    • Cricut digital cartridge St. Patrick's Day
    • Cricut cartridge Hannah Montana
    • My Pink Stamper From the Heart stamp set
    • Moss covered sphere
    • Core'dinations cardstock
    • Stampin' Up! cardstock in Early Espresso, More Mustard, Garden Green, Naturals Ivory and Whisper White
    • Stampin' Up! Early Espresso classic ink
    • Stampin' Up! Square Lattice embossing folder
    • Stampin' Up! 1 1/4" grosgrain ribbon in Old Olive and Early Espresso
    • Stampin' Up! Kiwi Kiss corduroy buttons
    • Stampin' Up! gold cord
    • Ranger distress ink in Crushed Olive and Antique Linen
    • Gold Smooch Spritz
    • Jewelry Fundamentals in Antique Brass
    • Seed beads in green and gold
    • Tiger eye chips
    • Hot glue gun/glue
I started off by cutting about 125 shamrocks in two different sizes and colors and embossed the lighter color shamrocks with an embossing folder.  I then hot glued all the darker green shamrocks onto the moss ball.

Once they were adhered, I added the lighter color shamrocks.  Next, I sprayed the ball with gold Smooch Spritz and added my ribbons.  For my bow, I first wrapped the ball with the Old Olive ribbon and added a sewed hook made from the Early Espresso ribbon before tying the bow.

Once tied, I added a button to each side of the hook and tied them on with gold stretch cord.  I glued down the middle of each side of the bow for added interest.

I cut the bannered sentiment from the digital Cricut cartridge St. Patrick's Day twice.  Once, leaving all the layers as is and again, using the hide/contour feature in the Cricut Craft Room to hide the sentiments and clover so that I could add lips (from Hannah Montana Cricut cartridge)  and the sentiment SWAK from My Pink Stamper's From the Heart stamp set.  Once the image was cut and adhered, I added gold Smooch Spritz to it as well.

I added seed beads and Tiger eye chips to the jewelry fundamental and added it to the bottom of the ball using hot glue.  Lastly, I added a jump ring to a 1/8" punched hole in my image and added it to the kissing ball.    Now I am all ready to be KISSED!  ;)

To thank you for visiting my blog and for hopping along with us, I am giving away the My Pink Stamper set "Love-alicious".

All you have to do to win  is leave a comment on this post.  I will select a winner on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 using Random.org.  The winner will have until Friday, March 16, 2012 at midnight (central) to claim the prize by contacting me.  If contact has not been made by this time, the stamp set will go back into my prize stash for a future hop.

    St. Patrick's Day Wreath

I am not sure if all you Cricut lover's out there knew this or not, but Jinger Adams, former Provo Craft spokesperson, is in the process of starting two of her very own product lines.  One line will be shoes and the other, crafting.  How exciting is that?  To kick off her crafting line, she is holding a design team call.  What a dream it would be to make the design team!  I know it's a shot in the dark, but you never know unless you try.  Here is my submission:

I started off with a 12" grapevine heart.  This is the backside.

Next, I started adding the shamrocks with a hot glue gun after I added texture to each by rolling a metal ball tool along the backside of them.  I cut the shamrocks in 3 different colors of green and in three different sizes ~ 1.5" H x 21, 2.0" H x 10 and 2.5" H x 4 for a total of 70 shamrocks.  I didn't have a pattern to how I applied the shamrocks.  I just put all three colors in a pile, grabbed, and glued.

I hand sewed a ribbon onto the back of the wreath to hang it from.

Next, I added the phrase "LUCKY" from the Cricut cartridge Sophisticated to adorn the bottom of the wreath.  I used glitter glue to highlight the shapes in the phrase and sprayed the wreath with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist for added interest.

I finished embellishing the wreath with a bow and gold craft wire for sprigs.
    Materials Used:
    • Cricut cartridge Sophisticated and digital cartridge St. Patrick's Day
    • 12" grapevine heart
    • Core'dinations Elements paper stack
    • Stampin' Up! cardstock in Early Espresso and Old Olive
    • Stampin' Up! 1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon in Early Espresso and Old Olive
    • Stampin' Up! linen thread
    • Stampin" Up! Kiwi Kiss corduroy buttons
    • Gold craft wire
    • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Olive Vine
    • Glitter Glue
I am including my craft files for easy recreation:

I wonder if I make the design team, I get shoes too...lol!  ;)
