Swim Party 12x12 LO

Tis' the season for swim parties!  Here is a fun layout to compile some favorite summer dipping memories:

The Good Old Days Imagine cartridge has many fun retro images for every season.  I used the cart for the children and title images and to flood fill the chevron background from the cartridge When I Was a Kid.

Happy 4th of July ~ 2013!!!

Happy 4th of July!  I hope you are having a fun and relaxing day celebrating our independence with friends and family.  Today and tomorrow I will be sharing with you some 4th of July paper projects. 

I created this card using the Imagine cartridge Buccaneer.  I remembered it having lots of fun red and blue striped patterns that are perfect for USA and sailing themed projects.  The sentiment is stamped from My Pink Stamper's Yankee Doodles stamp set.

I thought it would be cute to have a pirate looking at fireworks through his telescope!

This was a super fast and easy tag to make.  Again, I used Buccaneer for the patterns and colored in a  dog tag from the Cricut cartridge Stand and Salute.

I hand created the fire crackers by cutting  vintage paper straw into 4 pieces.  I then got glued some twine to a  scrap red border and rolled it just big enough to slip into the straw piece.  I did the same to the alternate end and voila...paper fire crackers!

Con"GRAD"uations!

Here are some graduation cards I created using the Imagine cartridge Greeting Cards Inside and Out.

I created this card and bag following the basic design on the cartridge.  The only things I changed up were to stamp 2013 to the banner circles and add black stickles to the "grad" portion of the phrase and to the banners.  Oh, and I used the first card layer on the bag instead of the card.

Here is the inside to the basic card.

For my next card, I wanted it to look more masculine.  I didn't use the Imagine to cut the card base and it's first layer.   I printed them, and then cut them using a paper cutter.  I pop dotted the center rectangle on after first cutting the swirls off.  I then pop dotted the banner portion pieces on (cut using the Imagine).  

 For embellishments, I hand drew two lines around the center frame and stamped "2013" to the center of the banner.  I then added them onto an A2 sized black cardstock base.

Here is what the inside of this card looks like.  I added the back portion of the card base to the inside  (cut using a paper cutter and corners rounded) in order to have somewhere to write.  I then covered the cricut logo by off centering the sentiment on top of it.

Of course, if I made a masculine looking version, I NEEDED to make a feminine one too!  This is my "shabby chic" version of the card.

On this card, I used ALL the layers as intended.  Personally, I didn't see the need to have the card front offered as a separate layer.  If you are going to cut and layer the card as intended by Cricut, I don't think it is necessary.  BUT, if you are going to layer the card with embellishments, it could be NECESSARY as in this case.  For embellishments, I first stitched two black lines around the rectangular portion of the frame.  I then added a black seam binding wrap around and bow.  Next, I added a hand cut lace banner imitating the original banner portion. I stitched these pieces on to the card layer to keep them in place.  I then added the circle to the banner and stitched on a coordinating button.  Had I not had the extra layer to wok with, all of the stitched and ribbon could be seen on the inside front portion of the card.  But since I had the layer, I simply added it to the card front and all of it is now hidden.  I also inked all of the edges in antique linen distress ink.

Since I created a hand cut lace banner to the front of the card, I used the layered portion on the back stamped with 2013.

Here is what the card and all the layers look like once you select the layer button and print and cut.  Confusing, I know!  Just remember the title of the cartridge "Greeting Cards Inside and Out" and it makes more sense. 

There are lots of different ways you can use the cuts on this cartridge. 

1. You can cut the card with the layers combined.  The cut would create a card that looks like #1.
2. You can select layers and then delete them all to just cut the first card layer as shown by the #2.  You could then add it to a cardstock base.  My second card would be a close example of this.
3. You can select layers and mix and match the pieces.  My first example would be an example.  I used all the layers as intended on the card, but used the first card layer (#2 in the pic) on a gift bag to create a matching set.  You could also use cuts #7 & #8 to create a cute gift tag for the bag.
4. You can cut all the layers and embellish away to create a unique and more personalized card like my third example.

Pin-Up Girls Series ~ Cougar

I love the dramatic feel of this card.  The large sentiment cut is from Word of Mouth.  It drove how I selected the other embellishments.

The bust is cut from the Cricut cartridge French Manor.

I used black seam binding, an antique button, and added a few sewing lines for embellishments.

Cougar: She has a fear of aging.

Pin-Up Girls Series ~ Diva

"The term powder room dates back to the early 18th century, when it was used to refer to a closet-sized room where people went to have their wigs repowdered. The expression carried through to Victorian times, when any reference to personal bodily functions was considered indelicate. Ladies of the era were embarrassed to speak of such things and would excuse themselves from mixed company to go to “powder their noses.” In fact, many women still use refer to a public ladies’ room as a powder room".

I for one, still use this term.  I must be a "lady"!  =P

I added lots of "bling".

I picked Diva to go with this card because a Diva has to get ready somewhere, right? 

Diva: She craves the bling.

Pin-Up Girls Series ~ Babe

I am having so much fun using miscellaneous materials and embellishments to try and make each card unique in this series.  To create each card, I first drew my color and theme inspiration from each pin.  I then matched up a pin-up flash card.  Next, I gathered like materials for the card and finally, started putting things together.  I almost never use a sketch.  I just randomly place my selected materials on my card (scrapbook page, project, etc) and move them around until they look good to me.



For this card, I used the Imagine cartridge Word of Mouth for my sun cut. I selected the layers function and pop dotted each. I then sewed some of the edges and used liquid pearls in baby blue for added interest.

The bow is made from white seam binding, Stampin' Up! pool seam binding and some linen thread.  I also used a hat pin from a recent swap I participated in.  

Babe: She is still in training.

Pin-Up Girls Series ~ Glamourious

Welcome back!  For this card, I used cuts from the Cricut cartridge French Manor.  I added some black seam binding, antique buttons and some froufrou ribbon.  I also added a cut to the inside of the card to complete the theme.

Gift Card Holder

Here's a gift card holder I created using Cricut Girl's Makeup Party for the box and Imagine Cartridge Word of Mouth for the images:

It's a little hard to see, but the words are all pop dotted up.

I left the bottom portion blank to write in my message.

It's sized perfectly to add in a gift card(s).

My Pink Stamper Design Team Day ~ May 2012

Hello Everyone and welcome back to this month's My Pink Stamper Design Team Day.  This month we were tasked to complete ANY type of project using Robyn's lasted image set Girlie Doodles sold exclusively at Pumpkin Spice and her latest sentiment stamp set Girlie Sayings. 

For my project, I created a gift card holder using my Imagine:

The card shape and layers are from the Imagine cartridge Greeting Cards Inside and Out.  I kept a few of the original layers, but also flood filled some with coordinating patterns from the Imagine cartridge All Wrapped Up.   The purse is from the My Pink Stamper Girlie Doodles stamp set (stamped twice and pop dotted) as well as the "Happy Birthday" sentiment used  in the inside of the gift card holder.  The "Addicted to shopping!" sentiment on the front of the card is from the My Pink Stamper Girlie Sayings stamp set and the tage is cut from Mickey and Friends.  It's hard to tell from the pictures, but both the front and inside have  a lot of pop dotted layers that really make it a fun holder ready for a gift card.

Baby Cards

This is the final challenge (it was actually first, but I worked backwards) on Pumpkin Spice.  The challenge:

Make a Card - any size, even a mini. with the following elements:
- the color Blue,
- something Round,
- at least 3 layers or 3 different papers.

I used the Imagine cartridge Baby Boutique to print my papers and to cut my images from.  That's what I love about the Imagine - all the coordinating pieces are there for you at the touch of a finger.  You don't have to scrounge for matching papers and elements.    The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper's Sweet Baby stamp set.

Snail Mail

I created this card for a challenge on Pumpkin Spice.  We were supposed to use the color green, a square and a die cut.  I used the Imagine cartridge Imagine More Cards to cut the image and all it's layers @ 4".  I also embossed the pink square with the Cuttlebug folder Swiss Dots.  The edges were all inked using Ranger distress inks in the coordinating colors and I topped the card off with some twine and rub on circles.  Oh, and the card base cardstock is Certainly Celery.  They have a couple more challenges I am going to try to enter.  =)

Letter Envy NSD Challenge #2 ~ Circle Blog

This is a quickie version of a card I made.  I was running out of time, so I didn't completely finish embellishing it.  I need to go back and add stiching to the bottom, brad holder and a gem or two.  The cow is cut from the Imagine cartridge Imagine More Cards (I LOVE this cow..I have used it in SEVERAL projects lately) and Letter Envy.  I also used this coold bandana material ribbon I found.   LOVE the ribbon!
